Get Fit 2013 is over..
The sadness of leaving such a great class and an even better teacher forever is quite upsetting.
There were tons of amazing moments, both good and bad. So many of us improved a whole lot, and we all worked so hard this semester. There's quite a lot to say about Get Fit, but all is super fantastic and so good.
I love Get Fit so much.
For me, Get Fit is a great opportunity for girls to improve on their fitness without feeling insecure, judged, or left out. The fact that Get Fit is an all-girl class really allows the girls to do their best and try and push for their goals in a setting where the surrounding boys (or girls) are competitive and confident. I enjoy working out in a place where my friends are present to encourage and motivate me to do better. I believe that since being in an all-girl class, I was pushed to do just as well as everyone else, since we were all girls trying to improve and get well, and not trying to look attractive while running or doing crunches. Get Fit is, I guess you could say, a little more private than a regular PE class, and that's what made me do better than I ever have before.
Get Fit has taught me a lot. I learned to do things I never knew I could do, and it has really benefit me. After the end of Grade 10, my physical activity went down a bit because there was no more mandatory PE classes. So basically, the only form of physical activity I had during the next year was volunteering with summer day camps and YMCA children's programs.
In Get Fit, I learned to run longer. I learned to withstand more burning pain than I could before, and I learned to encourage myself to do exercises and go jogging on my own time.
I am very, very proud of how well my running has improved. My community run times have improved from 29 minutes, to 24 (and that was for the longer one, too!). Also, the fact that I did not stop running for the entire 30 minute run is so good, and I am so happy with myself!! One thing that I know I probably could have done better on was the beep test. The beep test is something that I really dread, and although I did reach my all-time best this semester, I have a feeling that I could have gone further than the 8-3 I reached.
But even though!! I am still so happy with what I have achieved this semester and I am super duper glad that I took this class.
As we leave Get Fit, we all must have taken something away for our benefit.
I definitely feel like the sense of accomplishment from doing things we didn't know we could do or have never done before has seriously improved us. That feeling makes us do better and push ourselves to finish what we started, and also finish with an amazing result. I love that we all have done personal bests in this class, and it's really great how everyone is taking charge of their health to make it better.
I'm going to miss school. Probably. Most likely. Maybe. Ha ha ha hahaha ha idk maybe.
But I will definitely miss all the amazing teachers. LIKE YOU, PHILLIPS BECAUSE YOU'RE SO AWESOME! Really though, I'm going to miss the sense of family. We're all in this together. (insert High School Musical music here)
Thanks so so so so so so so much Mrs. Phillips.
You have blessed us with such a great opportunity and class where we can all be ourselves and reach our goals. Thanks to you, we are better than we have ever been!
Love ya lots!!
And thanks for giving me a 95% in this class, but it doesn't even matter right so lol haha whatevssss ;)

Dove True Beauty - super dramatic but yolo dis is how I feel
Basically all that is needed to say is:
EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL, NO MATTER WHAT SHAPE, SIZE, COMPLEXION, ETHNICITY.
Everyone is beautiful, including you. And including me.
The Dove True Beauty commercial really displayed how much we all don't believe in ourselves. We think of ourselves as lesser than others. We degrade ourselves, even though it is unnecessary.
What we all really need to do it have confidence. We all need to love the way we are, as difficult as that is. Much easier said than done. We have to learn to accept our imperfections and we have to learn how to break out of our insecurities.
Everyone sees themselves in a dim light, while other people stand in spotlights all around. This is not how it works. We are as equal as the next person. We are just as beautiful as our neighbour, our friends, our family, our enemies. No matter who we meet, strangers or not, we are all beautiful in our own way.
The word 'beautiful' could describe so many different things.
There are beautiful personalities.
Beautiful deeds.
Beautiful attitudes.
Beautiful does not define how much makeup you wear, how skinny you are, or clothes you wear. You choose the way you want to be, the way you wish to look, and that should be beautiful to you and to everyone else.
Beautiful defines you. And everyone. Because we all are beautiful, even with the million differences we have compared to each other.
So just love yourself and the way you are.
Nobody else can be a better you.
